Shipping
At Brown & Butter Co., we ship fresh, small-batch treats nationwide twice a month. This schedule allows us to bake and pack your order with care, ensuring you receive your sweets at their very best.
-
Shipping Days: Orders ship on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.
-
Deadlines: Place your order by 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time the day before shipping to be included in that batch.
-
Carriers: We use USPS and UPS; tracking numbers will be sent once your order is on the way.
-
Notes: We are not responsible for delays once a package is with the carrier, but we’ll always do our best to help if an issue comes up.
-
Holidays & Adjustments: If a shipping date falls on a holiday or needs to shift, we’ll post an alert at the top of our homepage.
Pro tip: Order early to guarantee your spot — shipping weeks fill quickly!
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and vary based on weight, size, and destination. We do not add extra fees — you pay only the actual carrier rate.
Warm Weather Disclaimer
Some items, including those with chocolate, may soften or melt in transit during warmer months. We package all orders with care and include ice packs when needed, but Brown & Butter Co. is not responsible for melting once your order has left our kitchen.
Tip: For warmer climates, consider choosing an expedited shipping option at checkout.
Shipping Limitations
We currently ship within the United States only. At this time, we do not offer international shipping.
Pickup & Local Delivery
We love sharing our bakes locally, but since Brown & Butter Co. is a small, home-based bakery, we limit pickup and delivery to ensure every order is handled with care.
Pickup
-
Availability: Pickup is available for large batches or custom orders only, including tiered/layered cakes, decorated sugar cookies, and bulk batches of cookies or cakes jars.
-
Pickup Window: A specific pickup time will be coordinated once your order is confirmed. Please arrive during your scheduled window to ensure freshness and safe handling.
-
Location: Our pickup address will be provided in your confirmation email.
-
Future Option: We are exploring a secure porch lock box for flexible pickup, but this option is not available yet.
Local Delivery
-
Availability: Delivery is available for large custom orders only, within a 25-mile radius of Duluth, GA.
-
Delivery Fee: A flat delivery fee of $75 applies within this area.
-
Setup Option: If setup is required at your venue (for tiered cakes, dessert tables, or large displays), an additional $25 setup fee applies.
-
Scheduling: Delivery times are limited and will be confirmed in advance. Since Brown & Butter Co. operates around a full-time work schedule, delivery windows are set based on availability.
If you’re placing a custom order, we’ll confirm whether pickup or delivery is the best option and provide all details before your order is finalized.
Refunds & Exchanges
All of our sweets are baked fresh to order, which means we are not able to accept returns or issue refunds once an order has been picked up, delivered, or shipped. Please review your order carefully before checkout.
Order Issues
If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or missing items:
-
Contact us within 24 hours of receiving your order.
-
Provide clear photos of the issue so we can evaluate and make it right.
-
Depending on the situation, we may offer a replacement, partial refund, or credit toward a future order.
What We Cannot Refund
To be fair to all customers and protect the integrity of our small business, refunds cannot be granted for:
-
Orders that have already been consumed.
-
Orders not picked up at the scheduled time.
-
Items melted due to warm weather (see Shipping Policy).
-
Flavor, texture, or taste preferences.
-
Customer errors (incorrect address, missed pickup, wrong product selected).
Perishable Products
Our treats are perishable and should be enjoyed promptly or stored as directed. Brown & Butter Co. is not responsible for spoilage if items are left unattended after pickup or delivery.
Unexpected Events
In rare cases of circumstances beyond our control (illness, weather, power outage, supply shortages), Brown & Butter Co. reserves the right to cancel or reschedule. If this occurs, you will be notified immediately and given the option of a refund or credit.
Disputed Charges
By placing an order, you agree to these policies. If a payment dispute or chargeback is filed without valid cause, Brown & Butter Co. will contest the dispute with supporting documentation (including order details, delivery confirmation, and communication history) and pursue recovery of funds.
Our goal is always to provide you with desserts you’ll love and an experience you can trust. While we cannot grant refunds in every circumstance, we promise to treat each situation with fairness and respect.
Custom Orders
We love creating custom cakes, decorated cookies, and large batch orders designed just for your event. To give each order the time and attention it deserves, the following policies apply:
Placing an Order
-
Custom orders should be placed at least 2 weeks in advance of the date needed.
-
Orders placed within the 2-week window are considered rush orders and require full payment upfront at the time of booking.
Retainer & Payment
-
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to secure your order date.
-
This retainer is applied toward your final order balance.
-
The remaining balance is due 1 week prior to your order due date.
-
If full payment is not received by the deadline, your order will not be prepared, and the retainer will be forfeited.
Design & Creativity
-
We will do our best to match your requested colors, themes, and inspiration photos, while maintaining the Brown & Butter Co. style.
-
Please note that slight variations may occur, as each item is handcrafted.
-
We do not create character-themed cakes/cookies, sexually explicit designs, or any designs that may be considered offensive.
Changes & Cancellations
-
Changes to custom orders must be requested at least 1 week prior to the due date. After that point, changes may not be possible.
-
Retainers are non-refundable under any circumstance, as ingredients and materials are purchased specifically for your order.
Custom orders are special collaborations, and we’re honored to bring your vision to life within the design styles we proudly offer.
